Samsung's latest non-smartphone on AT&T features a full sliding keyboard in landscape mode and a unique AMOLED touchscreen, which AT&T claims to be the first commercially available. The SGH A877 cellphone features a QWERTY slide out keyboard.The new screen technology gives a brighter screen and better viewing angles. The device will be available in the coming weeks for $199 with rebates from AT&T.
The display screen is AMOLED, and the phone features an accelerometer to rotate the display automatically based on how the phone is held, like in the iPhone.
The Samsung SGH A877 Impression supports quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz), EDGE and WCDMA data connectivity, along with Bluetooth and wireless handsfree headsets.
The Samsung Impression is the first commercially available AMOLED (active-matrix organic light-emitting diode) phone in the United States according to AT&T. The Samsung Impression is a touchscreen phone on the outside, all buttons on the inside. On sale for $199.99 (pay $249.99 and after mail-in rebate, receive a $50 AT&T promotion card.), the Samsung Impression has an included 3.0 megapixel camcorder-capable camera, 3.2-inch screen and full browser to maximize every pixel of color.
