Samsung Blue Earth is a touchscreen phone made from recycled plastic culled from plastic water bottles, called PCM. The unit will have a solar panel on the back which will allow for enough power to make phone calls. A battery will provide the energy for other functions, but the recharger will be energy efficient.

Samsung Blue Earth touch screen cell phone is made from recycled plastic called PCM, which is extracted from water bottles, helping to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions in the manufacturing process. The Samsung Blue Earth handset, including cell phone charger, is free from harmful substances such as Brominated Flame Retardants, Beryllium and Phthalate. The packaging for Samsung Blue Earth phone is designed to be both small and light, made from recycled paper, and comes with a 5 star energy efficient charger which uses standby power lower than 0.03W. As part of the Voluntary Agreement of European Commission IPP (Integrated Product Policy) pilot program, Samsung has agreed to start using rating on energy consumption on the no-load mode of the mobile phone charger.
On the back of the Samsung Blue Earth, you’ll find a solar panel designed to harness the sun’s energy and pump it into the phone’s battery. To add to the Samsung Blue Earth’s green credentials, there’s easy access to controls for screen brightness and backlight duration, as well as an energy-efficient Bluetooth mode, so that you can save power. It even features an ‘eco walk’ function that uses a built-in pedometer to show you by how much walking, instead of driving, reduces CO2 emissions.
